A short checklist that turns a thirty-minute meeting into real, usable advice.
The single biggest difference between a useful first meeting and a wasted one is preparation. Bring the papers, and the advice you receive can be specific from the very first hour.
Bring these, if you have them
- National ID or passport copy of every person involved.
- Any notice, summons, order or judgment you have received — the original envelope too, because the date of service matters.
- Deeds, agreements, receipts, bank statements or mutation papers relevant to the dispute.
- A one-page timeline of what happened, in date order.
- Names and addresses of the other side, and of anyone who witnessed the events.
Write the timeline before you come
Facts told out of order cost time. Write the dates down, even approximately, and mark which of them you can prove with a document.
Ask about cost and duration
Ask directly what the likely court fee, professional fee and timeline will be, and ask what would change that estimate. A straight answer is a fair expectation.
